RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2013 Timber and Decking

I watch the Flower show at Chelsea perhaps all for the wrong reasons, I look for the timber and how it’s designed into the structure of the garden. The quality, the cut, the fixing and the many techniques as to how it is used…Joe swift ambled through Trailfinders Australian Garden designed by Philip Johnson - what a garden. Chelsea usually exudes quality and the quality of the timber in this garden is no exception. A path is a path is a path; perhaps not and in this case it is more, much, much…See More

Which Hardwood Decking should I choose for a light coloured timber?

I just received a comment about it raining this week in England, and how it's not so good for deck work. Well here in Oregon it starts raining about November, and doesn't stop usually till late June or early July. Not only does Hemp Shield Deck Sealer work well in the rain, the decks don't get slippery with the normal "slime" buildup" from other deck finishes or the wood itself.   Hemp Shield has a non-formaldehyde based algicide, fungicide and mildewcide in addition to the anti-microbial effect of the hemp oil itself.  We are hoping to bring Hemp Shield to the UK and the EU soon so it can be used to treat decks there very soon

Thanks Karl for the warm welcome.

Far to cold to be sitting on the banks of the fishery, must be showing my age a little.

Look forward to catching up with the blogs and forum as I am always interested in adding new techniques for swim preparation at the fishery.
