Millboard decking at Oxford Brookes University

Millboard decking is available in a number of colours and textural finishes, it is used for private gardens, schools, colledges and commercial projects. It is fastly becoming the preferred choice for anti slip and no maintenance decking in the UK

When asked to provide the materials supply and installation for J and A Stevenson Ltd (Ramps and Platforms) we were pleased to provide our services.

The main contractors were Laing O’Rourke and J & Stevenson were the steel fabricating sub contractors.
The project was at Oxford Brookes University and a steel ramp was required to facilitate the flow of foot traffic quicker from one level to another. The design called for Millboard LastaGrip 40 in Golden Oak.

We constructed 150 x 47 C16/C24 timber joists rebated to fit into the steel sections and also to comply with the Millboard installation specification the joist centres had to be considered. The decking was then fixed to the timber structure using the recommended Durafix stainless screws.

Step nosing for additional anti slip was fixed to a routed channel in the upper edge of the millboard decking along the width of the steps, although not needed, is a welcomed addition to provide a visual aid on the leading edge of the steps.

J & A Stephenson are a professional company and it was a privilege to work them; courteous, polite and with sound communication made the project flow smoothly. We would recommend them and look forward to assisting them on future projects.
