Thanks for the info, Ill get Tradas decking manual and see if I can make sense of it. 

I dont mind spending time developing the software. I’m currently using Sketchup and it’s very good but time consuming if you want to include all the details. I’m thinking of using a program called Unity, which has some great 3D development/workflow tools. Its primarily used for designing games (which I used to do back in the day). Well see!!

Good discussion points. Personally I found UK contractors so bad I ended up building my own deck. Price was not an issue, 

With the UK weather I don’t know why anyone would want to concrete posts directly into the ground, except of course to save money, which it doesn’t in the end. Contractors are long gone by the time problems start showing up.
