Millboard Decking Installation Tring

This project began with a fairly simple client brief. They recently had a contemporary extension and wanted a raised decking terrace to immediately step out onto. From here steps are needed to get you from the new terrace down to the rest of the garden. This was going to be a new lawn but we chose a composite called Namgrass for ease of maintenance; We get our Namgrass from Country Supplies.

In keeping with the low maintenance theme Karl gave the client a range of composite decking samples. Wanting something that would work closely with the western red cedar cladding on their new extension. Ultimately deciding on Millboard Enhanced Grain Golden Oak this met with their desired aesthetic, budget and its low maintenance.

Contemporary Balustrade for Raised Decking

This new terrace is substantially raised off of the ground so required some suitable balustrade to complete it. We chose to construct the balustrade frame out of Accoya this has a warranty of 50 years against rot. Painting this with Owatrol solid colour stain which also has a warranty of 15 years. The clients then chose from over 150 designs the stainless-steel panels that would sit in the Accoya frame.

We got these laser cut panels from Metal Garden Screen. Not only are there countless designs to choose from you get to choose the RAL colour you’d like too. This meant we could use a light grey that would contrast and compliment the Accoya frames, composite decking and new extension.

We also built a retaining wall out of rail sleepers that works as a bench too. All in all a simple project using the best materials available and still within the clients budget.
