Vitex Decking from China
We are about to do some Vitex from the Solomon Islands. Nice clean hardwood and supposed to be very durable. I wonder if anyone has tried it. It is highly esteemed in the Solomons where it is considered one of their best woods.

This sounds great Terry, is there any certification with this? could you provide information about this product, specific density, flexural qualities, Janka rating, stability etc
Would also be great to see images
cheers
Karl
Hi Karl
It is nice wood, but it will be in the kilns for several more weeks before we run it into decking. I will get you some photos once done. I will also look into certification, but at this stage I am processing it for an Australian client on contract. If it looks like a go-er I may do some for the wholesale market.
Here is some technical data on Vitex cofassus. The drying time is an error. It takes about 6 weeks to dry. The wood is stable and durable.
