Arbordeck Awards 2021 at Futurescape
This year the Arbordeck Awards were held at the Futurescape exhibition in ExCel London. These awards are all about finding and showcasing the very best professional decking installations over the last 12 months. Entries are unlimited and free and this year has been more competitive than ever before.
Best small Trex® deck
This Category is for residential Trex composite decking projects under 30 sqm. Darren from Beams & Braces won this for their project in Cromer. A small space filled with intricate detailing made this project a unanimous winner with the judges. Beams & Braces are now TrexPro Platinum installers too.
Best large Trex® deck
You guessed it, this award is for residential Trex decks over 30 sqm. Andy from AMS Garden services took home this award for their outstanding project in Woodhouse Eaves. Using Trex boards to create matching planters and furniture in the deck really stood out to the judges.
Andy Saunt Said, “I fit Trex week in week out. I’ve worked with Trex for 4-5 years now and I find it so easy to work with. It far outclasses all the other competition on the market”
Best Trex® design solution
This category is all about the projects that needed some clever and creative thinking to overcome awkward spaces. Andrew from A.M. Joinery is a TrexPro Platinum installer and won this award for his project in Great Clifton. This decking project completely transformed the garden into usable space – that’s also maintenance-free.
Best commercial Trex® deck
This includes big and small commercial Trex decking installations. This went to Advanced Decking for their attention to detail on their project in Lakeview. The judges liked the seamless indoor-outdoor design and how it was executed.
Best Arbordeck softwood timber deck
Looking at projects big and small, both commercial and residential this category is open to all professional installers using Arbordeck softwood timber decking. The London Decking Company shone in this category by constructing a stunning softwood deck with a Japanese theme. This deck features a beautifully crafted bespoke balustrade to match the decking.
Top-spec Trex® deck
This is a new category for 2021 looking at projects using at least 2 Trex extras (These include Custom Curve curved Trex decking boards, Trex Signature Railing and or the Trex Lighting Collection). Simon from Simon Thomas Deck & Design took this award home for his project featuring his immaculate custom curves. They also used the Trex lighting collection to illuminate the space in the evening.
Trexpert of the year
A category dedicated to the TrexPro that has been a true champion of Trex. This went to Simon Thomas from Simon Thomas Deck & Design for his constant commitment to Trex as well as his support given to other TrexPro’s.
Deck of the Year
This is the award everyone wants to win… It’s the most competitive. The judges are looking for incredible attention to detail in the design and installation of this Trex deck. The winner will receive a 4 day trip for 2, to visit Washington DC including a visit to the outstanding Trex® university!
Massive congratulations to Simon Thomas from Simon Thomas Deck & Design for winning this year!
Simon Thomas said: “I’m proud to have won three categories, including Deck of the Year, at the 2021 Arbordeck Awards – it’s truly an honour to be recognised at these national awards, and nothing gives customers more confidence than seeing accolades like this. I built the Craig Cwm Celle Salem deck on my own on the side of a steep bank, and I’m delighted to see this project fly! Thank you to Arbor Forest Products and Trex, and congratulations to all of the other finalists this year.”
Jonathan Cooper Trex business manager at Arbor Forest Products was the Head judge this year and said, “It’s great to see the Arbordeck Awards growing each year, and we’re looking forward to celebrating its fifth year in 2022 as we continue to honour the very best of UK landscapers and TrexPRO installers.”
