Millboard decking double in High Wycombe

For this client, we had the privilege of not one but two gardens to design and landscape. The first project included a raised Smoked Oak Millboard deck with bespoke balustrade leading you down to a delightfully secluded hot tub. This is the concept design the client chose. This project was completed in 2011.

In 2017, the client got back in touch with us because they needed our services. They had moved to a new home with an overlooked garden that needed some love. Karl swiftly arranged a site meeting so he could measure the areas and understand what the client was looking for.

The Millboard decking on the first project did such a good job it was an easy decision for the client to use it again. Upon inspection, the garden itself was a bit uneven; This is a simple case of adding a step up or down in convenient places. For example, the new property has bifolding doors and it makes good sense to make a level threshold so no need to step up or down coming in and out of the garden. However, further down the garden a step is needed and gives nice transition between hot tub area and outdoor cooking area.

Of course, a new hot tub was on the to do list. The only problem is the lack of privacy. Keeping budget in mind Karl suggested breaking the decking up with planting. This would give more privacy around the hot tub and give the space more texture. Overall by adding these vibrant textures this makes the garden bigger and compliments the grey millboard. This solution also covered the storage shed at the back of the garden.

All of the project pictures on here were taken 3 years after project completion (2017).  It’s always a pleasure for us to see our gardens lived in and serving their purpose.

Quote from Karl “I love designing and landscaping local gardens especially when they are second time around clients. High Wycombe has some challenging changes in elevation… I love it”
