How do Architects and designers choose a professional landscaper

How do Architects and designers choose a professional landscaper

Many practices have Landscape Architects who can advise or a history of using a “Go To” Landscaping company… for other practices it may seem like a mine field and that all landscape companies are the same…

The aim here is to streamline the decision-making process and to offer a simple choice making your business flow smoother.

If you haven’t heard of The Association of Professional Landscapers… well you have now.

“The Association of professional Landscapers, APL, is a trade body affiliated to the Horticultural Trades Association; which promotes the highest level of standards within the Landscaping industry. To become a member there is a rigorous inspection process.”

The joining process is a complex procedure which includes

Test of experience and qualification

6 separate client references

Business credential checking

CDM Conformance (Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 HSE)

Insurance

Health & Safety, Risk and Method statements, COSHH.

A comprehensive site survey, inspecting working practices

All of the above completed independently through a third party. The APL does not vet its own members internally which is vital to its success. This honesty makes membership a whole lot harder,  credible and the only Landscaping Association to do so.

Further, the vetting process, done in such a way and to such a high standard that APL members have been accepted and backed by the Government TrustMark accredited scheme. The APL is the only Association that achieves this standard which is why its sought by many.

There is a TrustMark ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution), this gives the client confidence that should anything go wrong that there is a dispute facility in place. There is also an Escrow payment facility available, many members use this.

APL members have many guides and meet regularly to discuss current installation techniques. The Landscaping world is becoming more diverse every day. Furthermore, there are new materials and products designed and manufactured, all of which have specialist methods of installation. APL members have the opportunity to meet with these suppliers at regular events across the country.
