Lakeland Verandahs Targets £1M Middle East Opportunity After Successful Dubai Installation
Premium Decking Success at Aura Skypool
Lakeland Verandahs, a North West decking specialist, is targeting a £1m opportunity in the Middle East after earning rave reviews for its work at one of Dubai’s most iconic locations. The company, based in Preston and Scotland, recently completed a successful installation of its premium ‘Solidek’ decking product at Aura Skypool, the world’s highest 360° infinity pool. This prestigious pool attracts celebrities such as Floyd Mayweather and Cristiano Ronaldo. Lakeland Verandahs Dubai Installation has set the bar high.
Lakeland Overcoming Logistical Challenges
A dedicated team of UK fitters, led by father and son duo Russell and Sam Milburn, completed the 800m² installation in just three months. The team worked tirelessly, often through the night, to accommodate the venue’s full events calendar and overcome logistical challenges. They also worked closely with the hospitality team to minimize disruptions.
Unique Customisation for Dubai’s Demands
To ensure a perfect match with the surrounding environment, Lakeland Verandahs created a unique ‘Aura’ colour specifically for the project. This customisation, combined with the durability of their Solidek product, proved essential for success. Russell Milburn, founder of Lakeland Verandahs, highlighted the importance of adapting their offering to the harsh Middle Eastern climate: “Hollow wood composite deck boards typically only last around twelve months in the Middle East, which is why we believe there’s a significant opportunity for our premium Solidek product,” he said.
Product Durability Meets High Standards
The team’s efforts to demonstrate the durability and aesthetic quality of Solidek paid off. The quality of the product and the ease of installation impressed the Aura Skypool team, leading to approval to complete the rest of the pool area. Russell Milburn added, “Our product proved that it could outperform previous installations and last longer in the extreme conditions.”
Training Local Teams for Future Success
Sam Milburn, who oversaw the project, emphasized the importance of perfect timing and collaboration. “We had to work around Aura’s tight event schedule and overcome challenges with sea freight. Instead, we opted to transport 24 tonnes of decking by air,” he explained. A local installation team was trained to the highest standards, ensuring they can complete projects independently in the future.
A Lasting Relationship with Aura Skypool
Dean Stuart Jarvis, General Manager at Aura Skypool, praised the performance of Solidek: “We needed a product that could withstand the harsh conditions at 200 meters above sea level, with intense sun, salt, and pool chemicals. Solidek exceeded our expectations,” he said. The company’s commitment to customisation and quality made them a perfect partner for the high-profile location.
Expanding in the Middle East
Lakeland Verandahs has set its sights on completing 12 projects in the Middle East within its first year. With ongoing negotiations with hotels, commercial architects, and luxury villa owners, the company anticipates generating £1m by mid-2025.
A Strong Year for Lakeland Verandahs
This international expansion is Lakeland Verandahs’ first venture into export markets, with the remainder of their work focused on the North West of the UK and Scotland. The company has seen significant growth, with sales reaching £6m last year, marking one of the best performances in its 17-year history
