London Penthouse Decking Terrace

London Penthouse Decking Terrace

This London rooftop sits like the crown jewels aloft the Corinthia apartments penthouse. A magnificent property with an exterior that befits its ambassadorial interior. The views allow almost all the landmark views London has to offer.

In the region of 100 tonnes of podium landscape materials were curated and professionally landscaped in a multi-layered scheme.

Garden Design Brief

“A new build roof terrace garden that needed a first principled design for the apartment’s large open spaces. The client required a simple and uncomplicated approach, seating and entertaining areas that complement the grand style living spaces of the interior.”

Roof Terrace Design

The planting areas were to be considered simple, with hedging and a small area for herbs. Occasional underlit planters to support climbers for the trellis, echoing the same material as the decking. The trellis breaks the monotony of the tall walls and allows the shapes of the art deco lighting to be echoed in the landscaping. Trachelospermum Jasminoides is the perfect choice, with all year colour and a spectacular scent.

The planters were integral to the modified roof structure and houses an internal irrigation system. The planting was Buxus Sempervirens to create a seamless hedge to the perimeter. It is essential that all London penthouse decking terraces have a planting scheme.

The Portland stone to the exterior structure of the building is matched by the natural York stone paving.  Simple and straight compliments the style of the terrace, chic and elegant.

Dressing the roof terrace garden

A fire table with relaxed seating on the lower decking terrace; a fire bowl, and a Jacuzzi on the upper. A shower unit was also fitted. Formal dining for 12 is perfectly positioned on the lower stone terrace.

The terrace structures

London Penthouse Decking Terrace should have everything calculated and signed off with a Structural Engineer. Additional steel sections were fabricated to the original roof structure. These additions allowed the planters to be fabricated on-site.

All the terrace, upper and lower, paving and decking was suspended over pedestals. Adjustable for millimetre correction, essential for an accurate installation.

This terrace was in the region of 800 square metres for the decking and 450 square metres for the paving.
